*ACIM Lesson 275*

“God’s healing Voice protects all things today.”

The Core Teaching

This lesson is a deep reassurance: there is a Presence in your mind that never leaves you, never attacks you, and never condemns you. This Presence is what the Course calls the Holy Spirit—God’s healing Voice. The lesson is telling you that this Voice is not only gently guiding you, but actually protecting everything that is real in you and around you today.

To understand this, we have to see what the ego is trying to do.

What the ego is trying to hide

The ego’s basic message is:

“You are alone, unsafe, guilty, and vulnerable. You must protect yourself, defend yourself, and control everything to survive.”

It tries to hide three things:

1. *Your innocence*

The ego insists that you are guilty—of past mistakes, of not being good enough, of failing others, of failing God. It whispers that something is fundamentally wrong with you.

Why? Because if you believe you are guilty, you will fear God’s Love and avoid it. You will hide from the very Love that would set you free.

2. *Your unity with all life*

The ego says: “You are separate. You and others have different interests. You must compete, protect, and defend.”

It hides the truth that minds are joined, and that attack on another is always attack on yourself. If you knew your unity, you would stop attacking, and the ego would lose its foundation.

3. *The safety of God’s plan*

The ego claims that the world is random, dangerous, and indifferent. It says you must plan, worry, and anticipate disaster.

It hides the fact that there is a loving Plan already in place, and that the Holy Spirit is gently guiding every step, using everything for your healing.

The ego’s “protection” is really constant vigilance against imagined threats. It offers you tension, control, and anxiety as your “shield.” It tells you that if you don’t worry, you’ll be unprepared and unsafe.

What the Holy Spirit is revealing

The Holy Spirit, God’s healing Voice, reveals the opposite:

1. *You are innocent, now.*

Not “if you improve,” not “if you fix your past,” but now. The Holy Spirit holds a perfect memory of who you really are—God’s beloved, untouched by time, error, or sin.

This Voice protects your true Self by never agreeing with your self-accusations.

2. *You are joined with everyone in love.*

The Holy Spirit shows you that every person is either expressing love or calling for love. No one is truly your enemy.

This Voice protects your relationships by reinterpreting every conflict as a chance to remember your shared innocence.

3. *You are safe in God’s care.*

The Holy Spirit quietly tells you: “Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists.”

This Voice protects your peace by reminding you that what is truly you cannot be harmed by bodies, time, money, or circumstances.

So when the lesson says, “God’s healing Voice protects all things today,” it means:

  • Your peace is protected.
  • Your true identity is protected.
  • Your real relationships are protected.
  • Your purpose is protected.

Not because the body will never have problems, but because the truth of you is held safe in God’s Mind and the Holy Spirit is constantly guiding you to remember this.

Applied to Daily Life

Let’s bring this into very ordinary situations.

1. Relationships

Suppose you’re in conflict with a partner, friend, or family member. The ego says:

  • “They’re attacking you.”
  • “You must defend yourself.”
  • “You are not safe with them.”

You feel tension, anger, or withdrawal.

In that moment, God’s healing Voice is also present, saying something like:

  • “You are both afraid, not evil.”
  • “No one can truly take your worth away.”
  • “Your peace does not depend on their behavior.”

You might hear this as a quiet thought:

“Pause. Breathe. You don’t have to win. You can choose peace instead of this.”

The “protection” here is not about making the other person behave differently. It is about protecting your mind from the ego’s story of attack and separation. The Holy Spirit protects your willingness to love and your awareness of shared innocence.

2. Work and money

At work, you may fear failure, judgment, or financial insecurity. The ego says:

  • “You are your performance.”
  • “Your value depends on what you produce.”
  • “If you don’t worry, you’ll lose everything.”

The Holy Spirit’s Voice might come as:

  • “Your worth is given by God, not by your boss.”
  • “You are here to extend love, not to prove yourself.”
  • “You will be shown what to do, one step at a time.”

The protection here is the protection of your sanity. Instead of living in constant anxiety, you begin to work from a place of inner stability. You still show up, you still act responsibly, but you do it with less fear and more trust.

3. Illness and the body

When the body is sick or in pain, the ego says:

  • “You are your body.”
  • “This proves you are weak, vulnerable, and at the mercy of the world.”
  • “You are being punished or abandoned.”

The Holy Spirit’s Voice says:

  • “You are not a body. You are free.”
  • “Nothing can touch your true Self.”
  • “This can be used for healing, for deepening trust, for remembering what is eternal.”

This doesn’t mean you ignore medical care. It means you allow the Holy Spirit to reinterpret the experience. The protection is the protection of your identity: you are not reduced to symptoms, diagnoses, or fears. You can let the situation become a classroom for peace.

4. Anxiety and daily stress

In small daily worries—the traffic, the to-do list, the news—the ego pushes a constant background message: “You are not safe. You are not enough. You must stay on alert.”

God’s healing Voice whispers:

  • “You are carried.”
  • “You are not alone.”
  • “You can be gentle with yourself right now.”

You may notice this as a simple inner invitation: “Slow down. Breathe. Let Me handle this with you.” That is the protection of your present peace, the reminder that you can rest even while you move through your day.

Overcoming Resistance

Why might this lesson feel difficult?

1. *Fear of losing control*

The ego believes that its vigilance is what keeps you safe. To trust God’s healing Voice feels like “letting go of control,” which the ego interprets as danger.

Underneath is the thought: “If I don’t worry, I’ll be irresponsible. If I trust, I’ll be hurt.”

2. *Attachment to guilt*

Part of you may feel you deserve to suffer, to worry, to feel unworthy. Accepting that God’s healing Voice protects you today means accepting that you are worth protecting. That can feel almost too kind, too generous.

3. *Suspicion of inner guidance*

You may doubt that there really is a loving Voice within. You may confuse the ego’s loud, anxious thinking with “your own mind” and feel unsure how to tell the difference.

Be gentle with all of this. The Course never asks you to force belief. It asks you to experiment with willingness.

You might say:

  • “I don’t fully trust this yet, but I’m willing to be shown.”
  • “I’m afraid to let go, but I’m willing to let a little bit of fear be undone today.”
  • “I’m not sure I hear this Voice, but I’m willing to pause and listen.”

Your resistance doesn’t disqualify you. It’s simply more material for healing. The Holy Spirit protects even your journey—using your doubts and fears as stepping stones instead of obstacles.

Today’s Practice

Here is a simple way to practice Lesson 275 today.

1. Morning quiet (5–15 minutes)

Sit comfortably. Close your eyes if that feels safe.

1. Take a few slow breaths.

2. Gently say to yourself, several times, very slowly:

*“God’s healing Voice protects all things today.”*

3. Then add:

*“Let me listen and not lead.”*

4. Sit in quiet for a few minutes. You don’t have to “hear” words. Just rest in the idea that a loving Presence is with you.

If thoughts come, you can respond inwardly:

  • To fear: *“God’s healing Voice protects all things today.”*
  • To guilt: *“God’s healing Voice protects my innocence today.”*
  • To attack thoughts: *“God’s healing Voice protects our shared peace today.”*

2. During the day: short pauses

Whenever you feel tension, confusion, or stress, pause—even for 10 seconds—and say:

  • **“God’s healing Voice protects all things today.

I choose to listen now.”**

Then:

  • Take one slow breath.
  • Ask silently: “What would You have me see here?”
  • Be open to a softer interpretation, a calmer response, a kinder thought.

You may not get clear words, but you might feel a slight loosening, a tiny bit more space around the problem. That is the protection beginning to register in your awareness.

3. Evening reflection

Before sleep, look back over your day:

  • Where did you remember to call on God’s healing Voice?
  • Where did you forget and follow the ego’s fear?

Do not judge yourself. Simply say:

  • **“Where I listened, thank You.

Where I forgot, please reinterpret for me.

God’s healing Voice protects all things today—and that includes my learning.”**

Comparable ACIM Lessons

Several lessons are closely related to Lesson 275:

  • **Lesson 49: “God’s Voice speaks to me all through the day.”**

This establishes that the guidance is constant. Lesson 275 adds that this Voice is not only speaking, but protecting.

  • **Lesson 60 (Review of Lesson 26): “My attack thoughts are attacking my invulnerability.”**

Here we see that our own ego thoughts attack our sense of safety. Lesson 275 shows that God’s healing Voice guards that invulnerability.

  • **Lesson 70: “My salvation comes from me.”**

This points to the fact that salvation is in our mind, not in the world. Lesson 275 clarifies that salvation is the effect of listening to the Holy Spirit’s protection.

  • **Lesson 135: “If I defend myself I am attacked.”**

This is very close in spirit. Ego defenses are actually attacks on our peace. Lesson 275 offers the alternative: let God’s healing Voice be your “defense” instead of your fear.

  • **Lesson 153: “In my defenselessness my safety lies.”**

Again, true safety is not in ego defenses, but in trusting the Holy Spirit. Lesson 275 is a practical application of this trust: you are protected today by the Voice of Love.

Closing Thought

You do not have to protect yourself alone today. You are not asked to be strong by yourself, wise by yourself, or loving by yourself. You are only asked to let yourself be carried a little more by the Voice that already lives in your mind.

Let this be your quiet reassurance:

**“God’s healing Voice protects all things today.

I will listen, and I will let myself be gently led back to peace.”**
